The forecast for tonight didn't call for snow, freezing rain, sleet, hail, thunderstorms, cats and dogs...It called for frizzle : So I am guessing that is a combination of freezing rain and drizzle Either way 0 precip to speak of at this point. I kind of wanted to see what frizzle looked like! If it would only frizzle a little I could put it in the freezer and take a picture for you all.

Hahahaha I promise I'm not crazy the guy on the radio station called for frizzle, I thought maybe I got turned on to a rap station by accident and it was some new word that Snoop D.O.GG made up......

Ok, so my mission for today was simple...Locate my assigned mail box, and the nearest dumpster, on the premissis...on the premissis. I also needed to locate the local post office. I am happy to report all missions are accomplished. The Mail boxes were just in a different area then I normally enter the building from, and the dumpster was hiding behind some snow. The post office was easy thanks to my GPS. I also went in to sign up for cable today...that was an adventure, but I ran into a Cubs fan so that was cool.

After all of the boring "To Do" stuff was done I decided to grab the digital camera and do some driving around and take some pictures. I traveled southwest from the midge to the cass lake area and took some pictures of the local landscape. Nothing really exciting, but just something to occupy my time.

So here we go........

Found a cool stretch of "scenic highway" that ran through Chippewa Falls National Forest, I wanted to go into the forest itself, but was too cheap to pay if they wanted to charge me, so I stuck to the main roads.

Although this isn't a very good picture I was able to "hawkeye" an eagle's nest out in the distance, I believe the nest is on the western shore of Cass Lake.

I think the reason for the poor picture was that I saw this sign, and was busy reaching for my sock...I don't know why though

Crossed a bridge that went over this little creek looking thing that eventually flowed into the Lake, oh wait...it was the Mississippi

I forget the name of this town but I saw a small Catholic Church just off of the road, it dosen't look like the priest is in right now, but maybe in the spring time.?.?.

On a side note I drove through some town that had a sign with its name on it and under the name it said Population 45... I rolled up the windows and locked the doors if you know what I mean.

Here another funny one, in Indiana we sink brush piles in hopes that one July day we can pull up to that spot and catch a bass or two off of it...In Minnesota they have a little more fun with it...

Incase you can't read it, it says "Guess when I will sink, you could win", that was on a busy road so I couldn't slow down to get a good picture.

Here's another way they have in Minnesota...I want one...(The black dot in the trail is a snowmobile)

One more landscape shot and then i'm done, this is probablly a bog of some sort, but I thought it was pretty neat.

More to come stay tuned.........

P.S. admin here is a fish pick to tide you over

How'd you do that day?

  Welcome to my blog

 28 Jan 2009 09:45:26 pm

Holy crap I have a blog, never thought I would be saying that!!! I suppose I should take a moment to catch everyone up to speed as to where, why, how, when etc.

Ok, so as graduation was getting closer and I began to feel the "real world" bearing down on me I thought that it would be a wise choice to begin searching for a job Turns out it was a good idea, bills need paid I need to eat, you know that sort of thing.

Anyways I came across the Minnesota Conservation Corps website and they were just getting ready to hire new crews for the '09 calendar year...Long story short sent in the app, got a call back, had a phone interview, got the job the day before Christmas Eve. A nice Christmas present to say the least!

Dan and I journeyed up here last Thursday night with a U haul in tow, to meet with my new land lord so she could show me my new place. We drove all night, didn't sleep more than 20 minutes from Thursday morning until Friday night about 9pm.... That was fun We pulled into town about 8am, which was a little early for my 3pm appointment, so we tried to make the best of it. Dan went into the Wal Mart and played their playstation for a while, then we visited the local gander mountain (outdoor store)...Then we went to lunch both really tired at this point. We did end up getting a hold of my land lord a little early so we got the trailer dropped off and unpacked in about an hour which was a good deal.

We crashed shortlly there after. Saturday we went out to explore a little bit with the help of my new Garmin GPS, holy crap is that thing sweet!!! Even though it was a gift to me, it has definetly paid for itself allready. So Bemidji is set is a city set on a lake, imagine that, in the middle of Minnesota there is a lake???? The lake is called...guess.....that's right Lake Bemidji. Dan and my exploration took us to one of the Lakes many parks and it was a public access sight that in the summer serves im sure as a boat ramp, but in the winter it is a truck ramp, so the fishermen can get out to their permanent ice fishing houses... Dan MADE ME drive my brand spankin new pick up out on the ice. I was a little scared, especially as Dan began pointing the cracks out in the ice...hahaha but it was safe as there were a dozen or so other trucks parked next to their ice houses. I'll see if I can figure out how to post a picture of that.

So our Saturday concluded with Church and Dinner, and we were up on Sunday early so I could get Dan back to the twin cities to fly back home... Then it was oficial I was on my own So I did what every red blooded, God fearin American boy would do...lit up a smoke, mashed on the gas, and cranked the stereo

I did see one of those huge ski ramps that they do the long distance ski jumping in the olympics on, it was on the south west side of Minneapolis. Jeez it would take some cahonays to climb to the top of one of those things, let alone go barreling down one on ski's.

So its been pretty uneventfull thus far, been getting settled, getting organized. Seems like everytime I cross something off my "ToDo" list something gets added to it. I know I know "welcome to the real world" , and wait till it becomes a "Honey do list." Yeah Yeah its my blog and I'll complain if I want to

So that being said all thats left at this point is the thanks.......which if I were to list who has helped me and how they have helped me it would be about 700 times linger than this post is allready.......So I'll just leave it at THANKS!!!

Keep checking in and I will try to add my adventures, the cool ones, and the boring ones too...Ask questions add comments, and enjoy cause I'm going to!!!

P.S. Haven't found a spell check, so excuse my gramatical airs [/img]
